I am trying to find out if there is an alternative to declawing my cat. I have a 2 year old son who loves our cat and our dog. All three of them play together. The other day the three of them were in a pile on the floor and our cat, Juliet, scratched my son's ear, enough to make him bleed. Juliet ..

I'm just devastated and could use some advice on how to handle this. My little cousin (like my little sister to me) is all set next fall to start college, and she's planned to be a vet since she could talk. The only thing that changes regularly is what kind of vet. (A few weeks ago, she was thi..

I am from the UK and I have noticed in several threads about declawing, is this common in America ? I have read of it in books and it is probably done in my country but I have never seen a cat that has been declawed. Personally myself, and I mean this not as a slight on anyone, but it is not ..

« It is legal in the UK but only for specific medical reasons I gather the commonest reason is a chronic infection or tumour affecting a digit and even then it is only legal if only the affected claw .. »

Dear All, I am a cat owner in the UK, where declawing is extremely rare, besides which not only is my cat more important to me than the furniture but she's a great user of her scratching posts! I'm interested in hearing about people's opinions on declawing; why you did or didn't do it, whether you..

I have just read a "letter to the editor" (those able to receive British TV will find it on ITV1 teletext page 328, sub-page 3 of 11, until 17 May). The letter includes this statement: "I think in America all kittens have to be 'declawed' by law to protect the young birds, especially the fledgli..
« Oh, my! No, there is definitely NO such legal requirement here. In fact, many Americans are vehemently opposed to declawing. I personally believe it is a barbaric, cruel procedure. -- Lynne »
« ------------ There is absolutely no American law that says kittens have to be declawed (by law) in the United States. Declawing is mutilation. It is not merely removing the cat's claws but rather .. »

I am looking to get a new kitten since my Snickers passed away on Feb 5, 2007. I was speaking with a lady that is selling kittens. I was telling her that my family normally declaws all the paws. She was telling me that declawing all the paws on cats can alter their behavior with the litter box and..
« Google for your answer it will keep the peace for all involved The question of declawing is going to open a can of worms that is getting very old and tiresome in the cat groups. »
« ---------- I'm a little confused. Your cat didn't simply pass away. You previously posted that you had your cat euthanized because you couldn't afford to pay for his medical care (thyroid medicati.. »

« I must admit that I'm confused too. I tried to help you when you posted, but you went ahead and euthanized your cat before reading any of the responses. Getting a kitten means lots of expenses, shot.. » >> Stay informed about: Declawing Kittens |
